How to extract images from a PDF

A PDF often carries real image files inside it: the photos in a brochure, the product shots in a catalogue, the scans in a report. Extract Images finds those embedded images and gives them back to you as separate files, at the size they are stored in the PDF. It does not take screenshots of pages and it does not turn pages into pictures.

Open the PDF

  1. Drop the PDF onto the page, or choose Add PDF.
  2. Wait a moment while it reads the pages. A line at the top tells you how many pages the PDF has and how many images it found.
  3. Look through the grid. Each card shows a preview, the image’s size in pixels, its format and the page it comes from.

The PDF is processed in your browser and isn’t uploaded to app.zone’s servers. One PDF at a time; if you drop several, the first one is opened. Password-protected PDFs can’t be opened.

Save one image or all of them

Select a card to see the image large, with its size, format and page. Download saves that single image. Back in the grid, Download all prepares every image in one ZIP named after your file, for example report-images.zip. If the PDF has only one image, the button simply downloads that file — there is no ZIP for a single picture.

On iPhone and iPad the buttons read Prepare image and Prepare all (ZIP). When the file is ready, choose Save or share and pick a place such as Photos or Files.

What you will see in the grid

If the result says no images were found, the PDF’s graphics are drawn shapes or text rather than pictures. To keep whole pages as images, a PDF to image converter is the right tool instead.
